Terms of Use
TideApp — iOS app, Android app, and website.
Last updated 1 September 2026
The short version. TideApp is free to use. TideApp Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription, sold and billed through the App Store or Google Play, that opens the full day strip, widgets and complications, and extra alerts. Cancel it in your store account any time; the tide predictions themselves are provided as-is, for planning, not for navigation.
Agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and Forrest Grant, doing business as TideApp ("we", "us"), covering the TideApp app on iOS and Android and the TideApp website. Installing, opening, or using TideApp means you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
The service
TideApp computes tide predictions from published NOAA harmonic constituent data for reference and subordinate stations in the United States and Canada, and calculates them on your device. The free tier shows today's tide for any station and a limited day strip; TideApp Pro removes that limit and adds the features described in the app and on the paywall.
TideApp Pro subscription
TideApp Pro is offered as two auto-renewing subscription plans — monthly and annual — each with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. The exact price and trial eligibility shown to you on the paywall, in your local currency, is what applies; it is set by App Store Connect or Play Console for your storefront and account, not by this page.
- Billing. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account. Unless cancelled before the trial or current period ends, the subscription renews automatically and your payment method is charged the plan's price for the next period.
- Trial. The free trial converts to a paid subscription automatically at the end of the trial period unless cancelled first. Trial eligibility is one per subscription group, per store account — switching between the monthly and annual plan does not grant a second trial.
- Cancellation. Manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID subscription settings or your Google Play subscriptions page — not inside TideApp, which has no account system to cancel through. Cancelling stops future renewals; Pro remains available through the end of the period already paid for.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own refund policies. We cannot issue a refund directly.
- Price changes. If a plan's price changes, the store will notify you and, where required, ask you to accept the new price before it applies to your next renewal.
Acceptable use
TideApp is for personal, non-commercial use reading tide predictions. Don't reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the app's station data or harmonic constituent tables for redistribution; don't attempt to circumvent the Pro entitlement check; don't use the app in a way that disrupts it for others.
Accuracy and disclaimer
Tide predictions are computed from published NOAA harmonic constituent data and are provided for general planning use. They are not a substitute for official navigational sources — nautical charts, NOAA's own published tide tables, and current notices to mariners — and should not be relied on as the sole basis for navigation, boating, fishing, or any activity where being wrong about the water has real consequences.
TideApp is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or uninterrupted availability.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of TideApp, or from reliance on a tide prediction the app shows. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app or TideApp Pro is limited to the amount you paid us for TideApp Pro in the twelve months before the claim arose.
Changes
We may update the app and these terms. If a change to these terms is material, the date at the top will be revised and, where practical, we'll note it in the app's release notes. Continuing to use TideApp after a change takes effect means you accept the revised terms.
Termination
You can stop using TideApp at any time by deleting the app; this does not by itself cancel an active subscription, which must be cancelled through the App Store or Google Play as described above. We may suspend or terminate access to TideApp Pro features for a use that violates these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions.
